Young Reds Win Big in the Kingdom’s “Lang Toun”
Kirkcaldy U18 5 – 26 Linlithgow U18
Saturday 18 January 2020
Report by Graeme Miller
The Linlithgow U18’s travelled through to Kirkcaldy on Saturday morning and came away with a fine 26-5 win, scoring 4 tries and 3 conversions. Aidan ran in the first from the wing after 5 minutes with Andrew crashing over from second row 25 minutes into the first half. Cammy converted.
Unfortunately, Kirkcaldy then had a break out from within their own half resulting in a great individual try from them on the half hour mark. The Young Reds weren’t finished though and hit back again from hooker Chris, scoring under the posts, with again Cammy converting. 19-5 at half time.
With the low sun in the Kirkcaldy boys’ eyes we tried a few more kicks in the second half but Kirkcaldy coped well. Pressing forward on their line centre Kyle was caught short and a few players decided to then have discussions about the size, shape and colour of each others hand bags! With this sorted and play starting again, Kyle was rewarded with quick wide ball scoring in the corner and Cammy kicking this wide conversion. That turned out to be the only score in the second half.
The game finished 26-5 in favour of Linlithgow. A great start to 2020 and well done to Eioan who turned out this morning for his first U18 game. Thanks to the Kirkcaldy Rugby Club for the game and great hospitality.
