P6s in Action

Last Sunday the Wee Reds P6s headed down (the not inconsiderable journey) to Duns for their tournament. A slightly depleted team (only 9 in the squad so just one sub) were up for the challenge on a chilly morning in the Scottish Borders.

A few teething problems later (all good learning for us this Sunday) we had a Round Robin where Linlithgow played Hawick, Dunbar, Jedforest & Kelso.

First up was Hawick and the team were raring to go (well at least seven of them) and the last two weeks training sessions started to pay off with some great teamwork, support and determination. Linlithgow won the game with a couple of superb tries from Finn and some great defending.

Game two against Dunbar was more of the same with some great rucking with Max really getting stuck in and Rory running in a few tries – another win for Linlithgow.

The way the draw worked we had the first three games back-to-back, so pretty much 36 mins of constant rugby. Jedforest were up next and a quick start by the Wee Reds saw both Finn and Brodie run in a tries, whilst our defence stood strong with Kiernan being strong in the ruck. In the second half fatigue started to set in and a few turnovers by Jedforest meant that they managed to win by one try.

A short break and then we played Kelso. The team had used the break to watch Kelso in the previous match and so knew what needed to be done to win this match. Some great defending from Abi and Fin and a great try from Tom saw the Wee Reds deliver a commanding win and with that finished second in the round robin.

Great teamwork, great support and the weather stayed kind for us.
