Big Away Win for U18s
Royal High School U18 7 – 36 Linlithgow U18
Saturday 31 August 2019
Linlithgow U18’s first game of the season saw them take on Royal High School, away in Edinburgh. From the very start the boys started well with Gregor going over for the first try on 3 minutes in. Then, from close forward play, Liam crashed over on 8 minutes giving the Young Reds a 10-0 lead. However, from an attacking play in the Royal High 22 the Young Reds gave away an interception and Royal High ran the near length of the field to score and convert, making the score 10-7 to the visitors after 15 minutes.
Linlithgow continued to press forward after this and a chip kick forward resulted in Gregor tackling one of their boys while still in the air and he was yellow carded on 10 minutes. The team reacted well though and continued to press which resulted in two tries, one on 30 minutes from Liam again and one from Michael T on half time both converted by Cammy.
Half-time: Royal High U18 7 – 24 Linlithgow U18
The second half saw Linlithgow playing against the strong, gusting wind but the boys played tight and used the outsides only when needed, resulting in a further two tries in this half, one from Liam, making his hatrick, on 23 minutes which Cammy converted and lastly from Alex who picked up from an excellent, strong bursting run from Aidan who ran out from his own 22 to just short of their line, with several Royal High boys still hanging onto him!
Great result for our first game although still lots of aspects to work on.
