WEE REDS READY FOR BIG DAY
This Sunday (5 October) Linlithgow’s Mini Section will be playing host to more than 200 youngsters from Biggar, Falkirk, Forrester, Gala and Watsonians at the annual Mini Tournament. As ever, Mains Park will be bursting at the seams, because, just like the Wee Reds, all of these budding rugby stars will be supported by their parents and coaches.
It is a major exercise cramming all this on to the two pitches at Mains Park and feeding all of the hungry mouths which makes it a big day for the volunteers of the Club as well as for the youngsters.
The youngsters will play their games in age sections, from Micros through Primary Four to Primary Seven, with the teams playing in two pools to qualify for finals. The players will be looking to win their games but it is important that everyone has some fun and enjoys their day.
This year Linlithgow RFC is glad to announce that Linlithgow Sainsbury’s are sponsoring the Tournament for the first time, as part of their community engagement activity. Sainsbury’s are providing provide food for all the youngsters and are sponsoring the inaugural Sainsbury’s Shield for the P7s.
Linlithgow RFC’s Director of Youth Rugby, Paul Fensom, said “We are delighted to announce this partnership between the rugby club and such a prominent local business. We are very grateful for this support. This will help us make the event even more of a special day for all those attending and I am sure that there will be keen competition to win the Sainsbury’s Shield.”
“And, fingers crossed, that the weather on Sunday is kind!”
