U18s Shift Through the Gears in a Racy Display of High Octane Rugby
Linlithgow Academy U18 58 – 10 Ross High U18
Saturday 03 September 2016
This match was not as one-sided as the score suggests, indeed for long periods it was a closely contested game. What tilted the score heavily in the Reds favour was the pace, handling and line breaks of their backs, with stand-off Gregor Stewart, centres Aidan Rennison and Sean Lamb and full-back Ross Tulloch all prominent. Stewart finished the match with 23 points, from 4 conversions and a hat-trick of tries in a man-of-the match performance.
In the pack Kieran Cochrane had an outstanding match, with excellent contributions from the other pack members.
The match was played as a 14-a-side game to balance the teams with Linlithgow providing 4 players to top up the 10 from Ross High. The match was played in a good spirit over 3 periods of 20 minutes each and most of the Reds team played for Ross High at one time or another.
What resulted was an attractive game of rugby, with both sides contributing, which featured a number of tries from out of the top drawer.
For the record the Linlithgow scorers were:
Tries: Gregor Stewart (3), Ross Tulloch (2), Kieran Cochrane (2), Sean Lamb (2), Kyle Enders.
Conversions: Gregor Stewart (4)
