U18s Fine Win Despite Poor Weather Conditions
For their first home game of 2017 the Reds turned out in good numbers for the visit of Royal High School. The game went ahead on a heavy pitch with constant rain but the team made light of the poor conditions with James crashing over by the side of the posts following some good work by the forwards in the scrum Gregor adding the extras. The game was then played mostly in the opponents half and the Reds were only denied by some last ditch Royal High defence and sometimes a last pass not going to hand.
Half time score: Linlithgow u18 7 – 0 RHS u18
The opening to the second half was much like the first when Nathan for the Reds took a ball from a quick tap twenty meters out and shot through a gap to score to the side of the posts. James then grabbed his second of the match after he chased a kicked ball into the in call area and got the final touch Gregor adding the extras.
Royal High then hit back with a try of their own when a good break from Fraser playing as a guest got them close to the Reds line before they crashed over for a try. Kieran scored the Reds next try after making a good break and finishing close to the posts with Gregor adding the extras. James than completed his hat-trick of tries in the match by crashing through the defence at short range for a good forwards try.
Final score: Linlithgow u18 31 – 5 RHC
Given the pitch and weather conditions the team played some good open rugby. It was good to see the guys playing for each other and trying to use different ways of unlocking the Royal High defence. Our defence was good this week and all the hard work the guys have been putting in over the last number of months starting to pay a return for them.
