U18s Claim Big Win
Linlithgow 33 – 24 Dunbar Grammar
Saturday 02 March 2019
The U18s emerged 33-24 winners from a good competitive match against Dunbar Grammar. Trailing 12-19 at the interval they rallied to score 3 tries to 1 in the second half, including a lung bursting length of the field score from Ruaridh Stewart, playing in his first game of the season.
The game, which started at 13-a-side, as Dunbar only had 13 players, finished with 12 in each team as the home coach took a player off to keep the numbers equal after Dunbar lost a player to injury late in the first half.
Matty Fairbanks and Liam Park both scored 2 tries, from some blistering penalty moves, to add to Ruaridh Stewart’s score and give the Young Reds 5 tries on the day. The game also featured a very tidy performance from the Young Reds’ stand-off Struan, topped off with some beautifully struck conversions (4 out of 5 attempts).
