U16s at Royal High (Jan 19)

Young Reds U16s Roll On

Linlithgow U16  43 – 7  Royal High U16

Saturday 26 January 2019

Match report by Graeme Miller

The U16 today ran out 43-7 winners at a wet and at times windy Barnton, home of Royal High School in Edinburgh. The 28 strong Royal High squad were using the game as their National 5, PE assessment, one off performance so the Young Reds had to cope with continual substitutions. However it didn’t affect their game especially since the Young Reds were trying out a lot of positional changes themselves.

Special mention should go to Harrison for his first full start in the squad and he definitely enjoyed the tempo! The Young Reds scored seven tries and kicked 4 conversions in total, only letting Royal High cross their line early in the second half.

Ben, Gregor and Lewis all scored tries with Michael and Kyle scoring two apiece. Gregor notched two of the conversions while Ollie slotted the other two.

Coach’s comment:  “A much improved performance from two weeks ago, so well done to the entire squad. Let’s just work on minimising the knock-ons and realising when to go up the middle or play the ball wide.”
