Where does the money raised from summer camp go?
The money raised from the summer camp is ring fenced and put towards youth rugby and the work of the Club’s development team, which helps provide more rugby playing opportunities for all.
What equipment is needed?
Rugby kit is great. But if you don’t have rugby kit, any sports clothes will do. Rugby boots or football boots are a bonus. Please don’t rush out and buy some. We have a large boot exchange that you can take advantage of. Bringing a pair of trainers can also be an advantage as the ground tends to be quite firm at this time of year.
Please plan for a Scottish summer and bring a waterproof top and change of clothing!
P4 and above should bring a gumshield as some contact rugby will take place. The Club has a limited supply of gum shields for those who don’t have one.
Please use your best judgement and apply sunscreen to your child. If you’d like them to reapply at break / lunch, please send them with a bottle.
Food and Drink
Please pack enough to keep them going for the day. We stop for a snack in the morning and afternoon, in addition to lunch. Water bottles can be refilled throughout the day, but please avoid fizzy juice.
First Aid / Medical
We will always have two first-aiders on site who will deal with any bumps and bruises and minor knocks. Anything more serious we will alert the emergency contact provided.
IF YOUR CHILD HAS ANY MEDICINE THEY WILL NEED DURING THE CAMP, OR IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY, PLEASE HAND IT TO EITHER DOUGIE OR EUAN who will place it on the first-aid table so it can be easily located.
What will my child be doing at summer camp?
P1 – P3 will be playing non-contact game-based and fun activities.
P4 – P7 will be working in their own age groups on rugby-based activities, including full contact rugby. These activities will be carefully managed by the coaches. Players who haven’t participated in contact rugby before will be given full training before being allowed to take part.
Every activity will have a rugby element to it though we don’t obviously do full contact rugby all day every day!
Check In / Check Out
The check in / check out will be situated on the patio outside the club house. Please check your child in and out each day.
Older children may walk home but please notify this to us in advance.
