Different Class !
Linlithgow Academy 7 – 43 North Berwick High School
Saturday 28 February 2015
The School played their home match, which was originally scheduled to be played at North Berwick, down on the bottom pitch to make way for the Seniors who had a league match against Langholm.
Looking to revenge a heavy defeat ( 53-5 ) played out at North Berwick last month in the Brewin Dolphin Scottish Schools Regional Bowl Semi-Final, the players were in optimistic mood during the warm up only to be brought immediately back down to earth with a try by NB in the first minute of the match.
Their second try came in the 12th minute. The school were actually camped on NB’s 22 line with a scrum for us. A poor pass to our stand off resulted in NB taking possession and running the full length of the pitch duly brushing off some tentative tackle attempts to score in the corner.
Try number 3 came in the 27th Minute and the signs ominous for a Deja Vu moment.
However, the School scored a fine try them selves 5 minutes later with Rory showing off his footballing skills with a couple of “kick ad chase” breaks which was duly converted by Mark.
With no further scoring, the teams changed round with the score at 7-17.
It has to be said at this point, that as NB declared they had no experienced front row, then the entire game game had to be played with uncontested scrums. This suited NB more than it did the School. The Players expressed positive confidence during the half time break with the belief that two tries down were possible to claw back. Alas, it was not to be. NB went on to score a further 4 tries without reply.
Euan Conlan had to leave the field of play mid way through the second half due to a smack on the head with a bloody nose being the outcome.
