S1s Win Again In Toughest Match of Season to Date
Linlithgow Academy S1 15 – 4 High School of Glasgow S1
Saturday 8 December 2018
The S1 faced their toughest game of the season so far in the High School of Glasgow. The first 15 minute period was a tight affair with both teams almost scoring a couple of tries apiece which the two great defences stopped. In the 13th minute, a good back line move got Glasgow’s speedy winger away for the first try of the game. Linlithgow struck back a minute later with some powerful runs and support play sending Reece over for a try which Fraser converted to make it 4-4 at the end of the first 15 minute period.
The second 15 minute period continued the great battle for the ball with Linlithgow dominating the forward play, but spilling the ball at key times in the wet and windy conditions. Glasgow were dangerous in the backs but pressure from Linlithgow held the line with great tackling. From this pressure Linlithgow moved the ball up the pitch in a controlled manner, capped with a try from Fraser diving over the line from a quickly taken penalty to make the score 8-4.
The last 15 minute period was a feisty end to the game with Linlithgow dominating play with powerful tackling, counter rucks and strong runs. Glasgow, who were not used to being behind, started to tire and one or two players lost their composure in a heated but pulsating end to the game. Linlithgow players just continued to play good strong rugby with a superb run from Daniel taking the score to 12-4. By this time Linlithgow were in full control and after several attempts, with the whole team involved, Johnny drove over to complete the scoring with a 15-4 win.
Great tough opposition with the Reds digging deep as team to get such a good win.
