S1s Slow Out of the Blocks
Hutchesons Grammar 21 – 17 Linlithgow
S1 match report from Mark Osborne – Saturday 12 January 2019
The Young Reds’ S1s awoke from sleepyness which saw Hutchesons take a 11-0 lead with their brilliant winger getting a hat trick of tries in the first 10 minutes. The first half ended 6 tries to two with their winger continuing to break through.
There is a saying in sport about a game of two halves – this game certainly lived up to that billing. The Young Reds were galvanised into action and, in a great second half performance, they outscored the home side by three tries to nil. This wasn’t quite enough to overhaul Hutchesons, but made it a close finish at the end and demonstrated some real character in the side against strong opponents.
The Young Reds try scorers were Fraser (2), Jack (2) and Daniel. A special mention should go to James Galbraith who made his Linlithgow debut today on the wing and then later on in the second row! Well done James.
