P7s at Melrose (Sept 15)

P7’s – Runners up to Melrose

Melrose Mini Tournament – Sunday 27 September 2015

Having got off to a great start beating Kelso 5-0, the 11 man squad faced 2 closer matches, which they were unlucky not to win against Melrose and Peebles which both ended in 2-2 draws.

Having finished second in pool A, the squad which were starting to tire in the heat, beat the winners of pool B, Gala 2-0 to progress to the final against a select from both Melrose P7 teams.

The heat, their previous exertions and the lack of substitutes was the only difference between Linlithgow and what was effectively a squad of 20, which resulted in Linlithgow narrowly losing 3-1 to the hosts.  As usual the Linlithgow P7’s kept their discipline and showed maturity beyond their years, whilst at times being bewildered by the interpretation of the laws of the game.

Every single player in the P7’s team gave it their all and played in the true spirit of the game and are a credit to the club and the game of rugby, which bodes well for the rest of the season.
