P5 Tournament Report

Sunday 11 October 2015

Overall both Linlithgow teams played some brilliant  open rugby and continued our reputation as the best tackling teams we have seen this year.

The Linlithgow BaBas beat Foresters, but came up against a tough Watsons team to just miss out on the final with Falkirk unable to make a team in their pool.

P5_winnersThe Linlithgow Lions were so quick even the photographers on the day couldn’t catch them.  They started well with great wins over Livingston, Gala and Edinburgh Accies.  This lead to a final show down with Watsons where we finished winners 6 to 4 with all ten players getting on the pitch with new boy Sam playing brilliantly his first games (great winger run for his first try).

What is most pleasing is that we have boys and girls at different skill levels and experience at playing rugby, but evenly mixed across both teams they all worked together and supported each other.  A big call out on the whole team for their tackling on Sunday which we have been concentrating on in training.  Special mention for tackling goes to Tobin, Little and Big Jack for the BaBas and Jake, Caiden, Fraser and Adam for the Lions who set the bar very high for the rest of the team to emulate which they all are doing.  Overall both teams continue to improve and our latest recruits of Sam, Morgan and Ollie are adding quality and enthusiasm to our growing family squad.

PS – Still work to do on rucking, but that’s next as a focus on our training agenda.
