Danny Keevins

Danny Keevins

It’s with great sadness that we report the passing of Danny Keevins, former Club Treasurer and long-term Rugby Club and Male Voice Choir member. Harry Lynch has penned a short tribute to Danny:

A proud Weegie , Danny moved to Linlithgow to set up home in Priory Road with his new wife Moira in the early 1970’s. Being surrounded by rugby playing neighbours , he was soon drafted into the fledgling Linlithgow RFC as an enthusiastic  supporter. His surveyor expertise as well as his fundraising skills were put to good use as the original clubhouse and then the extension were built.

He served as fundraising convenor from 1986 -88 and club treasurer from 1989-92 and again from 2001-04. On the social side, Danny was one of the main organisers of the annual club Burns supper for 27 years until 2017. He was a senior “alickadoo” with the Peelers tourers and one of the founder members of the Rugby Club Male Voice Choir. He was an active promoter and proud ambassador of the Rugby Club  on tours to The Hague, Italy, Canada, China , Ireland and even North Allerton.

Danny and Moira moved to Ayrshire in 2017 to be closer to their family, but he kept in touch via zoom with his fellow “Grumpies” and the “Semi-Circle of Doom” members until  a few months ago when the onset of a short illness led to his untimely passing last Saturday evening 30th October. Our thoughts are with Moira, his family Johnathan, Clare and Sarah and his three grandchildren.
