Strong PL Side run in Three Late Tries to Put Gloss on Good Performance
Linlithgow / Grangemouth 2s 7 – 48 Preston Lodge 2s
Saturday 13 December 2014
The seconds game on Saturday took place thanks to the help of our local neighbour’s Grangemouth. The pitches at Linlithgow were frozen but a few miles down the road a different climate is available so the Reds took their team there.
The game started in perfect conditions with a number of guests from the local club helping Linlithgow to field a combative team. Preston Lodge looked sharp, bolstered by a few experienced players as they had no first team game, so before long that experience started to show.
The scum half was greedy but sharp and caused the Linlithgow defence all sorts of problems by scoring the first try from a tap penalty. The back row of Cameron Dori Muir, Tom Sneddon and Adam Nelson were tacking well and stemming the attacks by Preston Lodge. Andrew Archer, an ex LRFC player, was causing harassment in the loose for Preston Lodge, leading to many good turnovers which resulted in scores for the opposition.
The Linlithgow team and guests ended up chasing the game in many ways, but it was good to see novice players like Ronnie Coventry and Sean Hagarty showing up so well against stiff opposition with more experienced players like Jason Dawes and Garry Anderson putting in good shifts and enjoying their games.
Although the score was 48-7 to Preston Lodge, at the end all 20+ players had enjoyed their game for Linlithgow and all agreed they were looking forward to the next games after Christmas.
