Cammy Walker Shines at Reds 2s Run in 6 Tries
Grangemouth 2s 0 – 38 Linlithgow 2s
Saturday 28 August 2021
The scoreline suggests that this might have been a one-sided match – far from it! Only resolute defending by the Reds 2s kept the Stags 2s at bay, as they exerted considerable pressure on the Reds, pinning them down near their own line for long periods in the second half.
However the home team had no answer to the pace and skill out wide of Cammy Walker, who ran in 4 tries before being subbed to go to the 1s bench. The vision of Gregor Stewart at 10 and the skill and timing of centre of Aidan Wan set up Cammy for 3 of his tries, as he used his pace and direct running to round the Stags’ defence. The 4th try was scored from the halfway line, as he jinked and stepped his way through the Grangemouth team, turning on his after-burners to go in under the posts!
It was very much a team effort though, as everyone played their part in keeping the Stags at bay for the whole match.
The other two tries came from Andrew Archer, up in support of a fine Euan Murray break, and Aidan Wan, who accelerated through the home defence for a classic try. Gregor Stewart kicked 4 conversions to complete the scoring.
