BULLETIN 30 – April 2015
Our Spring Programme is reaching its climax with the Golf Day next week before we finish off with Belles & Bellinis. Read how we are progressing.
Pound Round The Pitch – Thanks Everyone!
Over the morning of Saturday 14 March we had hundreds of members pounding away, when we looked at the mums and dads, not to mention some grans and granddads, joining our Micros and Minis and many others who walked around the pitch. The music created a fun atmosphere and the pounders walked right up until the coaches’ challenge game. Many thanks to the last pounders who volunteered to pick up the cones on their last circuit!
Our latest total shows we have collected £2,750 from those taking part. As you know we are going to split this with Comic Relief. On that basis, that would be £2,475 for LRFC Development and £275 for Comic Relief. Well done everyone!
BUT…it might be a bit higher. We know there are some pockets of money still being handed in and we need to match that against the 12 or so people who registered and for whom we do not have a form. If you are one of them could you please hand your form, and money in as soon as possible.
While we think everyone was great, I think we have to give a special mention Finlay Chadwick from the Minis and Matthew Murray from our Micros who each attracted sponsorship of over £200. Fantastic effort! And, indeed, at the other end of the age scale (sorry, Chris), Chris Thomas managed to walk on behalf of the choir and others and pass that £200 milestone as well.
Please note that the Treasure Hunt, planned for Sunday 26 April, has had to be postponed. We hope to reschedule it later. Watch this space!
Golf Day – Friday 1 May
Entry forms for the Golf Day on Friday 1 May are in the Club House and on the Club website. It costs £120 for a team of 4 to enter. Morning tee-off times begin at 9.00 and afternoon at 1.00. last tee-off is at 10.45 and 2.45. Bacon rolls are available from 8.00. There will also be competitions for the longest putt and “Hit the Gong.” There are super prizes for all the competitions. The Prize-Giving will be back in the Club House to be followed by a live screening of Edinburgh v Gloucester in the European Rugby Challenge Cup Final.
And our thanks to Rob Arkley and Kingsfield Golf Centre for their fantastic support to our efforts.
Belles & Bellinis – Saturday 30 May
Tickets are on sale behind the bar for Belles and Bellinis, an afternoon for the ladies with a glass of fizz and delicious cakes including a full size LRFC rugby ball cake kindly made and donated by Truly Scrumptious. The Treatment Room will also be offering “mini-tasters” on the day. This should be a fun afternoon with tickets costing only £10.00.
Do not forget Bags2Rugby
We hope you have seen the bags in the Club House foyer. You will see that the deadline for return has been extended to Friday 1 May (also the Golf Day!). Please fill them with your unwanted clothing (no bedding), clearing out your wardrobes and bring them in whenever it suits you before the deadline. We have done it twice and raised £300 and £320. Let us see if we can beat our previous totals on this third occasion.
…to Jim Mochrie who donated ham which was used for hospitality. The honesty box for that has contributed £39 to our total
Last season the proceeds from the quiz night’s increase in price provided the development with £120. This season now that the quizzes have finished, last year’s total has been surpassed and the development has gained by £141.
Over the past two years, the bulk of the money raised from the Prediction Cards has been retained as the traditional fund-raiser for the Club as a whole, but it has been possible to allocate some of the proceeds to the development. This has happened again – with £500 coming to the development.
Never Forgetting the Pigs !
A wee flurry of activity recently saw the pigs total jump by £202 to take the total raised by the piggy banks to an amazing £6,519. You can return your pig at any time to the Clubhouse, but we will be having one big round-up at the Minis’ end-of-season FunDay on .
ONE LAST HEAVE
All of this means that the total for our One Last Heave has reached £18,435 reducing the £30.000 target to £11,565. This is tremendous going. And everyone should be aware that we have passed another milestone in that our total fund-raising since we started has now reached £75,405. We look forward to Catwalk 2015, confident of some surplus for the development.
In our next 2020 Bulletin, we shall bring you news on the Golf Day and look forward to Belles & Bellinis – and a break!
