2020The next big event in our spring programme is the Minis Race Night – see details below. And we hope that you all have your sponsorship forms for Pound Round The Pitch. If you have missed this, read about it as well.


The Micros and Minis will be under starter’s orders on Friday 27 February when they hold their Race Night to combine fun and fund-raising. Tickets are on sale from behind bar and the coffee stall on Sundays, a family ticket costs £5.00.

As we have said before, Linlithgow RFC Race Nights involve the jockeys sitting facing the wall and winding their horses forward to the finishing line. It is great fun to watch and to take part in. Each age group will have a race with ‘jockeys’ drawn from a hat for each particular age group

It costs £3.00 to ‘own’ a horse…Stuart Thompson, Paul Fensom and Gordon Muir each have a copy of the race card and so speak to them about buying your horse (and then hope your jockey is good!). The winning owner(s) and jockey will get a prize for each race.

Similarly anyone who wants to sponsor a race should speak to Stuart, Paul or Gordon. It costs £35 a race and £50 for the final.

At the end of the night all the race winners will take part in a ‘Final’ to decide the Champion Jockey & Owner.

Older (non-Mini) members of the Club should feel free to buy a horse or donate a prize. At the last Race Night the Micros and Minis sold each horse 4 times and the event raised over £1000. It would be great to do it all over again.

The fun kicks off at 7.00 pm.

Pound Round The Pitch

Members of the Fund-Raising Group have handed out lots of forms and letters to our youth members and senior players at training over the last couple of weeks. If you have not seen this, you might want to check out the bottom of a kit bag!

The sponsorship form is on the Club web site and there is also a box with them in the Club House foyer where all members of the Club can pick them up. We think people must be doing so because we have filled it twice.

This is great news because this could be a day to remember. We are asking as many members, or parents of members, as possible to walk ten times round the pitch at Upper Mains Park at some time on Saturday 14 March. The first opportunity to walk will be from 9.30.

This is open to everyone. We are asking everyone who does it to raise at least £10. The maths are straightforward – if only 300 people take part and raise the £10, then we shall make our target of £3,000. Imagine how good it would be to beat that.

The Fund-Raising Group are working up details for the day and more information will be available in the next Bulletin. The important thing now is to grab a form and some sponsors!

Bags2Rugby is back!

One thing we shall be doing at Pound Round The Pitch is handing out bags again for Bags2Rugby. You might recall that we have done this twice before. We have identified a company that wil take bags of clothing and bedding off us and pay us for them!

We hand out the bags and ask you to fill them then return them to the Club House by 20 April. You clear out your wardrobes and cupboards. It will help the spring cleaning!

We send the bags off and wait to see what we receive. On the two previous occasions we have raised £300 and £320. Can we lift it again?

Spring Programme – Another Date for Your Diary

The programme will be rounded off with Belles and Bellinis – a great afternoon out for the Ladies!  It will take place between 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm on Saturday 30 May.  So pencil that in your diary.  More details will follow.

And don’t forget – entry forms for the Golf Day on Friday 1 May are in the Club House and on the Club website which has information about it. It costs £120 for a team of 4 to enter.

ONE LAST HEAVE! – Pigs keep on at it

The pigs have out in a recent burst and trotted up to £6,347 which takes our total raised so far this season to £13,768.

This leaves just £16,232 to go to reach our target for One Last Heave.
